1.15 Safe to install
BlueScan is a Bluetooth 4.0 Scanner that encompasses both Low Energy and Classic modes. The tool efficiently scans for Bluetooth devices, fetches vendor information, and offers the option to email the results. Recorded details include device name, location, signal strength (RSSI), MAC address, and MAC address vendor lookup.
BlueScan actively contributes to the earthping.com initiative— a crowdsourced Bluetooth database. Additionally, users have been leveraging its functionality to locate their misplaced Bluetooth devices.
The scan data can be easily downloaded via email in JSON and CSV formats. This version includes the feature of uploading discovered devices to a web database; this setting can be adjusted in the menu under settings. Note that Bluetooth 4.0 devices are capable of scanning in either Classic or Low Energy mode, while devices lacking Bluetooth 4.0 support are restricted to Classic mode.
This application is part of an ongoing research project investigating the prevalence of Bluetooth devices in the expansion of the Internet-of-Things landscape. It currently supports both Bluetooth Classic and 4.0 (Bluetooth Low Energy – BLE) technologies.
The app caters to individuals intrigued by the prevalence of Bluetooth devices in their vicinity—explore your neighborhood with a scanning drive to encounter sensors, fire trucks, freeway monitors, various car brands, laptops, phones, TV set-top boxes, and more.
Your feedback is highly valuable to us. We welcome bug reports, feature requests, and the submission of scan data sets ([email protected]), along with any intriguing observations of Bluetooth devices you may have encountered.
Many Thanks,
John
